An opportunity has arisen within Peak District Music Centres for an upper strings/cello specialist to grow school teaching and ensembles for young musicians in Buxton and Bakewell.

Location: Peak District, particularly Buxton and Bakewell
Session Time: Initially working up to one day per week including early evening ensembles (Friday), plus additional ensemble work if desired. There will be a strong potential to build additional teaching and ensemble work whilst playing an active role in expanding string provision in the area and the Peak District Music Centres activity.
Rates of Pay: Recommended self-employed instrumental teaching rate: £36 per hour
Music Support Practitioner (Classroom Instrument Learning): £19 per session

PDMC is seeking a skilled Strings Teacher to join its strings team and support the development of the strings offer across the organisation.
This is an exciting opportunity to work with young people at every stage of their musical journey, from beginners discovering an instrument for the first time to developing ensemble players performing as part of our Music Centres programme.
This role is self-employed and requires accreditation with Derby & Derbyshire Music Partnership. Successful applicants will also be committed to working collaboratively as part of the Peak District Music Centres strings team.
Key Responsibilities:
Instrumental teaching: Delivering one-to-one and small-group string lessons in schools in the Peak District, particularly within the Buxton and Bakewell areas.
Ensemble leading: Directing and supporting string ensembles with Peak District Music Centres (Buxton & Bakewell), helping young musicians develop confidence, skills and a lifelong love of music.
Classroom Instrumental Learning (CIL): Work as a Music Support Practitioner within our Classroom Instrument Learning (CIL) programme, working alongside expert strings tutors in local schools and developing your own practice in whole-class teaching.
Main Requirements:
Strong strings performance skills and the ability to lead ensemble rehearsals confidently
Achieving Accredited teacher status with Derby & Derbyshire Music Partnership (as part of your application) - More about Accreditation here
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Availability for weekly rehearsals and end-of-term performances
Enhanced DBS check or willingness to apply
