HELPING YOUR CHILD TO PRACTISE GUIDE
Thank you for allowing your child to pursue one of the most rewarding activities that could carry on as a lifetime skill for them - learning an instrument!
Contrary to what you might think, you do not need to be musical to help your child succeed in their musical journey. What children need most is encouragement, routine and help getting started.
The tips/advice in this guide are designed to:
-
Help your child to progress, particularly in the early stages
-
Explain why practising between lessons matters
-
Explain what “Practice” actually means
-
Encourage you to consider signing your child up to a PDMC ensemble if they're not already
If you ever feel a bit stuck or feel some extra advice would be helpful, your child’s teacher will be very willing to help you to help your child succeed.
Parent whatsapp groups
Since September 2024, we now offer parents the option to join a parent WhatsApp group for their child's ensemble. This does not replace official PDMC email communications, but is intended as a way for parents to communicate with each other about ensemble-related matters. To be added to your ensemble's Parent WhatsApp group, please complete the form here.
Please note that Parent WhatsApp groups are only for current PDMC parents and players aged over 18. Membership of Parent WhatsApp groups is subject to our Parent WhatsApp Group Guidelines. Click here to download these guidelines.
