strings masterclass with danel string quartet
Peak District Music Centres, Dark Peak Music Foundation and the University of Manchester have teamed up to offer players an exciting opportunity to receive a Masterclass from the world famous Danel String Quartet.
When? Thursday 7 May 2026

Where? University of Manchester

Who are the Danel Quartet? They are the resident string quartet at the University of Manchester. Read more about them here.

What is included? This event will include a ticket to watch the Danel Quartet’s lunchtime concert, take part in the Masterclass in the afternoon, and a trip to the Manchester Museum in the morning (if time allows). Transport will be by coach with pickups and drop offs in Buxton and Glossop.

Who can take part? We invite applications from string chamber ensembles (duos, trios, quartets, quintets, piano trios etc) who would like to take part, and ensembles can be of any age and standard (up to 19 years old). Please note that applications must be from an ensemble; we are not able to place individual applicants in ensembles for this event.

Is there a cost? There will be no cost to attend the concert and Masterclass, but we will be asking for a small contribution towards the coach hire (£10-15 per child).

Can parents accompany their child? Parents are welcome to attend the whole trip, but may be asked to act as a ‘parent helper’ on the day to ensure that all the pupils are looked after and safe.

How do I apply? Sign up has now closed (as of 12th January 2026). Thank you for your interest.
